Would I Lie To You? Board Game Rules

Would I Lie To You? Board Game Rules

If you're like me, you have quite a few board games in the house.  Last weekend, however, we opened the box to play and the rules were missing.  We tried to figure it out but with no luck.  I Google'd and could not find them.

So, here my gift to the world today!

Chef's Plate - Sirloin Steak with Drunken Potatoes

Tonight marks the second meal from the Chef's Plate box that was delivered to me on Monday.  Make sure to check out my first unboxing for a full review.  This meal was called Sirloin Steak with Drunken Potatoes, Asparagus and Roasted Tomato.

NOTE: I decided to BBQ this steak vs pan sear.  When you have a BBQ, nothing beats it, year round.

Review:  Amazing!  Tasted great!  And fun to do.

Unboxing Chef's Plate - Toronto based meal delivery service

I finally pulled the trigger on a gift voucher for a meal delivered to me by Toronto based start up Chef's Plate, servicing a market of people looking for fresh meals without the hassle.  The service delivers fresh ingredients to an address of your choice from a weekly published menu.  Here is the unboxing of my first order, Pan Seared Cod with a Mushroom and Kale Saute over a bed of Quinoa.

While under the very close eye of the Executive Chef, Buster, and listening to Parov Stelar's "The Demon Diaries" on Rdio, it started.  Unfortunately, our Sous Chef, Travis, was away chasing tornadoes in the Southern United States.

Unpacking the box that was delivered, I had 2 meals for 2 people, tonight's meal and a future one.  The suggestion of Chef's Plate is that if there is fish in the order, you cook within 2 days of delivery.  That made it an easy decision.

Your ingredients arrive in a brown box with a great logo printed on the side.  Something that everyone asks what you're carrying.  Great and free advertising for the company.  Everything is packed in a cold bag with reusable ice packs to keep things cold and fresh.  The recipe for 2 is packed in a bag, labelled and ready to go.

I found the recipe very easy to follow and after 30 mins of cooking, you present the following like a professional home cook:

The final product, Pan Seared Code

Pros:

  • Tasted great
  • Super simple
  • Great date night idea
  • Recipe can be saved and reused

Cons:

  • The mushrooms arrived a little wet

Found it great paired with Jackson-Triggs 2013 Grand Reserve Chardonnay.  If you have never tried the Jackson-Triggs Wine Club, check it out and support local world class wines.  2 bottles of wine delivered to your home every month.

Overall, a great first experience with Chef's Plate.  Support a local start up!  If you have an experience with Chef's Plate, comment below.  Have another service to suggest, add it.

Is renting really a waste of money?

Is homeownership the only answer?  For a long time, I've struggled with the same questions raised in the video by The Globe and Mail

"Why pay someone else's mortgage, when you could pay your own?"

"You're just throwing money away, why not buy something of your own?"

Here are some other things to think about:

  • Buying a home
    • Maintenance of the property
    • Purchases such as the riding lawnmower, hot tub, etc
  • Renting
    • Uncertainty of the markets

If you have purchased a home, do you think it was better than renting?

Fractured

fractured.jpg

i can't be the only one on earth with this...

i think some doctors have diagnosed it. there must be some therapy for it. **check email** can i solve this on my own? when did it become **text message notification**, where was i? oh ya, when did it become such a problem? how did it come to pass that i can't pinpoint focus on one thing? when did my attention and focus become so fractured?

do my friends and colleagues think it's a bad thing? probably not. it **work on notations for wireframe** hides under the guise of multitasking.

i remember the love of cooking with some light music on in the background, enjoying the smells of garlic and onions sautéing in a pan. probably the best smell on earth. **changing music on Rdio** i remember the love of sitting on the porch at the family farm just talking with my mom and dad, enjoying the relaxing sounds of spring birds and the odd car driving by.

**coworker, sticking around way too long...**

there is light at the end of this fractured ice tunnel... family, friends, special people, my piano, how i miss sitting there for hours, playing beethoven as the world melts away around me.
